What is NutraBlend?
NutraBlend is a safe, gentle, prenatal supplement. Prenatal supplements are
designed to optimize general health for women trying to get pregnant and reduce the chances of birth defects. The NutraBlend brand of prenatal
supplement does not contain iron and gives women the option of determining their own level of iron supplementation. (The importance of this is explained further below.) Nutrablend can be used to complement
FertilityBlend for Women, which already contains iron. How Does NutraBlend Complement FertilityBlend for Women? FertilityBlend for Women
is designed to improve a woman's chance of getting pregnant. FertilityBlend for Women should be taken daily during the time a women is trying to get pregnant and she no longer
needs to take it once she becomes pregnant. NutraBlend is designed to optimize general health and reduce the chances of birth defects. Nutrablend or some other brand of prenatal supplement should be
taken daily along with Fertility Blend for Women during the time she is trying to get pregnant. She should continue to take NutraBlend daily after she gets pregnant and until she gives birth.
Prenatal Support Provided by NutraBlend NutraBlend contains
B vitamins for energy metabolism and fetal cell development, including folate, which may help reduce neural tube birth defects. Vitamins C and D, calcium, magnesium, zinc, copper, manganese, and boron
help support fetal bone and cartilage development, and maternal bone maintenance. The antioxidants, vitamin C, E, selenium, and beta-carotene support healthy cell membrane development.
Vitamins B12, folate and copper are involved in red blood cell development, iodide is needed for normal thyroid development, and chromium for nerve development. Iron is not
included in this formula due to side effects in some women (constipation and nausea), but should be taken separately, as directed by a health-care provider to avoid anemia, especially during pregnancy.
Your physician or health-care provider can best recommend a daily dosage of iron that will best support your needs while avoiding side effects.
Nutritional supplements including prenatal supplements do NOT replace the need for a healthy diet, and cannot compensate for damage due to smoking, alcohol or drugs that should be avoided during pregnancy. Iron
should be taken separately, at a level determined by your health care provider, to supply the amount needed for placental and fetal blood cell development and increased maternal blood
volume. Recommended daily intake during pregnancy is 30 mg, compared to a normal RDI of 18 mg, but this higher level may cause nausea or constipation in some women. As much as 60 mg iron or
more may be needed if anemia develops. Additional calcium should be taken, as well, unless your diet is rich in dairy products or other calcium containing foods. Increase intake of folate
-rich foods such as leafy greens, oranges, legumes, eggs and wheat germ. Protein intake also should be increased during pregnancy to support fetal growth. If you are interested in ordering NutraBlend,
